Cuetlaxóchitl
Переглядів 267 місяців тому
How to pronounce this Nahuatl word :-) Cuetlaxochitl, emphasis on the "xo" syllable, is the original native name for the beautiful flowers that we know as poinsettias. This name refers to Joel Poinsett, who was an ardent supporter of slavery and personally oversaw the displacement of thousands of Native Americans. If you want to distance yourself from that, then you can use the name the flowers...

Whoever made that noise made it intentionally, so we would hear it and find him. (Or am I overanalyzing again?)
Unique vase mode print
Переглядів 222 роки тому
Thought this print was going to fail the slicer made some poor choices that resulted in trying to push filament far more quickly than physically possible, and it missed the entire first pass around the perimeter. But, it has been printing for some time now with this layer thick gap under the nozzle. Now, this print has some insane settings a line width of 1.2mm and layer height of 0.8mm so that...
Aquarium Lights Simulation 720p
Переглядів 135 років тому
The Aquarium Lights engine is configured to render to a 100x75 buffer here, and over this is overlaid 300 evenly-spaced "lights". A Voronoi map is computed to determine the area of influence in pixels of each light, and then the light is coloured according to the aggregate of those pixels. The cells have jagged edges because the Voronoi map is rendered at the same resolution, 100x75. At this sc...

Pumpkin misses Pancho

Pumpkin and Pancho escaped. We found Pumpkin first and continued driving, looking for Pancho. Every time we called out Pancho's name, Pumpkin chimed in, as if to help us.

This is also used at La Géode!
Apologies to Peter Kruder, whose name ended up in this filename as Hruder a couple of decades ago. I've never gotten off my butt and fixed it. :-P
All the ideas are here, the left hand is just too low and muddy
You found my video :-)
Holy smokes!!!
😮
holy shit it is actually the original sample
How did you verify that ? if you know where to find that sound please let me know
@@urbanmasked It is from the game Thief: Dark Shadows. I haven't played the game, so I don't know where it comes up, but internally, it is a sample called "ks2_rcon_he_na2" in a folder called "keeperscribe2". I found a playthrough video and it seems like the game is mostly about sneaking around undetected, so my guess is that this sample is played when you fail to be adequately silent somewhere in the Keeper Compound.
YOOOOO THANK YOUU @@logiclrd
I remember this intro when I saw "The Dream is Alive".

I'd love to see what the end result looked like! Did you do anymore experimenting with the oozy style?
I haven't experimented much, but the print did succeed, and I did it once more with another colour of filament and it was very similar. :-) I'll see if I can't get a photo of it.
@@logiclrd verrry cool. I've been meaning to explore this area of printing myself, where you let the printer make 'controlled mistakes' so to speak. I'd be very interested to see what kind of surface patterning can appear during vase mode printing. I would say that this could make for some great visual outer layers if combined with a large nozzle diameter.
You on the 1980s theatre?

Imagine if the script for this logo was this: 0:14 "wee we are going through a tunnel of light" 0:33 "welp its getting scary" 0:49 *"LOOK OUT THERES A BEA-"* 0:50 _camera crashes and the text _*_"YOU DIED"_*_ appears_
It's "through," not "though."
This logo was from 1985. And I thought it was from 1986.
I remember seeing this at the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry in Portland. Good times.
I remember seeing this when I saw National Geographic's "Sea monsters; a prehistoric adventure"
Looks like the Dr Who Intro
That was in the Fleet Science center in San Diego.
Here's a higher quality one: ua-cam.com/video/DaY6xyUqJ2Y/v-deo.html
ahem, that's a reconstruction that I've made a long time ago
@@ZeroStar. ok and?
Anyone else getting 70's Doctor Who vibes from this?
So, I've just discovered, 2 years on, that a couple of people *did* comment with links to higher-quality versions of this intro, and UA-cam decided to mark them as spam and not even notify me. Huh. I also am apparently unable to un-mark them as spam, which a forum post I saw suggests might be because they are replies and not direct comments themselves. Sorry to those two people who did find higher-quality versions, and it looked like I completely ignored you!
Okay, so, UA-cam user +rikk83 wrote, 2 years ago: "i found and enhanced this version in HD ua-cam.com/video/bDDNyDKrczs/v-deo.html" User +Henrique Martinez also commented with a link to the same video. Enjoy!
Not sure If I'm traveling through hyperspace, 2001 or Doctor Who?!
None of the above. :-) Way back in the day, when you went to watch an IMAX film -- any IMAX film, though most were (really high quality) documentaries -- this intro was the first thing that would play after a theatre attendant stood briefly in a spotlight with a microphone to tell you that if you feel any disorientation or dizziness, just close your eyes and the feeling should soon pass.
SpaceManMonster no is through into a IMAX logo
@@logiclrd Very similar to Doctor Who and 2001 in fact. It uses an optical animation technique called slit-scan which was very popular in the 1970s. Good example of the type!
@Trever The Awesome Logo Fan 2006 Look up 2 replies previous in this same thread :-)
I've been looking for a recording of this for years!
What happened to the robot that appeared through the screen and pointed to the sub-woofers, etc?
Is it possible you're thinking of the THX intro? "Mooo" :-) I don't remember seeing a robot with my IMAX...
@@logiclrd well I saw a robot or a roller coaster rail
IMAX meets Doctor Who.
This has nothing to do with your Power Who Rangers
very good ..nice memories coming up
This is still at the omsi museum as far as i know. wish i could find a better quality video. thanks for the upload!
There were a couple of people who commented -- 2 years ago now -- that they had found higher-quality videos. UA-cam never notified me of their comments, and decided to classify them as spam, and I apparently don't have the option to approve them anyway.
